BMW is all geared up to launch its ‘most advanced small engine range ever’ and this news was confirmed by a senior BMW engineer. He further adds that this small engine could even be a 3 cylinder unit.

BMW chief engineer, Holger Winkelmann, established that the next-generation petrol engine line-up will adopt engine applied science for the approaching 5-Series Grand Turismo’s all-new 3.0-liter straight 6 engine.
Succeeding small BMWs petrol engines will benefit turbocharger and have straight insertion and will gain from both Valvematic that boundlessly changes valve lift and Vanos that changes ingestion.

Winklemann added that ‘Some people talk about using this technology in the future, but we have it now and will use it.’ He also predicted that even in the near future engines as small as a 1.6 can be expected to replace the present 6 cylinder range.
