BMW has now issued authorized particulars of the all-new 2012 1 Series. The all-new, second generation BMW 1 Series engages a typical niche within its section, and stays the lone rear-wheel drive car in its class. But it also stays to some extent too unique, holding the same bread van outline as its ancestor and the kind of looks that only a Mother could love.
With a retooled array of boosted TwinPower petrol and diesel engines, the new BMW 1 Series extends an even more sporty drive besides increased fuel-efficiency. This is illustrated best by the new 116d ED which turns the first output BMW to break the 100g/km discharges brink.
Longer and wider than the prototype it substitutes, with altered space for passengers and luggage, the cabin boasts a brand new design and is depicted as being more easy and luxuriant.
The second-generation BMW 1 Series has 83mm length which is more than its predecessor, and is 14mm wider and 30mm longer in the wheelbase, making a perceptibly bigger but also sportier car. BMW’s press issue states “the new 1 Series design as giving the car the look of a Coupé, but unless of course we’re looking at a different set of pictures, it looks to be the same dumpy hatchback as before.”
BMW’s current inventions have more often than not established hard to captivate with a photographers lens, so for now the judgement about its looks is reserved until it is seen in the metal form.

It is astonishing what makers are accomplishing these days with the modest internal combustion engine. The caption shape for BMW’s new 1 Series comes from its 116d EfficientDynamics model, which gives a turnout of 114 bhp at the same time as making a mean fuel consumption of 74.3 mpg, but at the same time giving out a 99 g/km of CO2. The question is “How long will it be before we see a mainstream production car averaging over 100 mpg?”
As expected, there is prosperity of trick technology tangled in delivering such frugalness, Auto Start-Stop, an eight-speed gearbox (the first in its class) and a new ECO PRO mode, triggered off by means of the Drive Performance Control (included as standard), which adapts a range of on-board systems to maximize efficiency. When in ECO PRO mode the throttle reaction is adapted to promote a more economical driving style. The additional economy produced in ECO PRO style is fed back to the driver, with the in-car displays depicting the extra number of miles attained by driving more expeditiously.
The inner of the new BMW 1 Series boasts a spanking new and young-looking mixture of typical BMW design characteristics and new innovational handlings, with surfaces made from good quality, meticulously completed materials. The characteristic BMW driver direction is perceptible in the angled exhibits and checks of the central instrument panel, while the inner surfaces are superimposed with new superior-quality materials, providing the interior of the new BMW 1 series with a natural look and feel.
As a result of the augmented length and width of the new 1 Series, rear-seat riders gain from a added 20mm of leg room than the departing model. There is more storage space inside the car, with big front door pockets, two cup holders on the center console and a spacious glove compartment.
The new fangled BMW 1 Series will be for sale in the UK on 17 September 2011, with a selection of three diesel and two petrol engines. Prices begin from £19,375 OTR for a BMW 116i ES.

The next 1-series of BMW has been spotted in public, enlightening that the firm’s bread-and-butter replica is to be provided with more jaunty titling and additional cabin space.

The present 1-series has long been picked apart for strangled, roughly supermini-esque covering and oddball designing. These were elements subjective by the fact that its base from the dividing wall backwards was formulated for the unsuccessful Rover R30 at the end of the 1990s. BMW’s engineers have been working and doing a lot of R & D work on bettering interior space.

This is expected to ensue in a longer wheelbase that can deal with both this car and the model with front-wheel-drive that will succeed in 2013. This three-door trial car discloses that longer wheelbase.

The subsequent 1-series ought to be one of the first BMW’s to get the firm’s 1.5-liter, three-cylinder diesel and petrol engines. But at the car’s set up, the eco energy is liable to be led by an even more sparing 1.6-liter oil-burner, furnished with Efficient Dynamics characteristics like stop-start and giving off less than 100g/km of CO2. The test chop also depicts a steeply skimmed windscreen and a roof line that butts off to keep away from the dull tail of the present car.

First up is the Compactive Sport Tourers, which will be a 4 or 5 seated hatchback door with the soothe characteristics of a compact MPV – high seats position and a spacious cabin – but fashioned more like a passenger car. These are the only details that can be found now and there are no early sketches obtainable. This gives the option of only trying to picture what a BMW hatch with a stroke of intersect styling will look like.

Next up is the well-built wheel-base Advanced Sport Tourers, which directs to extend 7 seat comfortableness to BMW drivers. At present, a 7 seat alternative is only obtainable on the X5 model. This will be a “wagon-oriented” MPV – almost certainly made to take on the reminiscent of the rather triumphant Ford S-Max which has revealed an inclination in market analyzes towards abstracting buyers from premium brands.

BMW’s EfficientDynamics aluminium /magnesium cylinder block construction-center components can be seen in the 128i Convertible. It also boasts of Valvetronic valvetrain organization.

The 135i Convertible contains BMW’s double-turbocharged 3.0-liter aligned to a 6 cylinder engine generating 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torsion from a mere 1,400 rpm.

With the direct gasoline gadgets, double stumpy-mass turbochargers and air-to-air inter cooling the 135i vehicle speeds up to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds while the Convertible attains the same in 5.6 seconds. Both engines have coolant pumps that amend fuel economy and decrease parasitic releases for altered output.

The 1-series Coupe boasts of a mistily 2002-barracked chassis and this includes the attribute ‘Hofmeister kink’ in the c-pillar. The standard body kit which is M Aerodynamic is seen on the 135i. On all models, the stem lid incorporates an included spoiler. The 135i has an extra lip spoiler for speedy rear down force. The L-shaped back tail lamps are LEDs with Adaptive Brake lamps, which function in two stages with regard to brake application force.

BMW’s contentious iDrive scheme has only with the elective steering system. The remaining interior follows BMW custom like galvanized pearl lustre airfoils on the inner door covers, glove section knob, the radio’s rotating handles, the handles of the mechanical air conditioning system, the (elective) iDrive manager and the decorative trim tiles on the steering wheel.
