Wheeltronix told us the news before with their Big Scoop. But the latest news of the 2010 Z4 of the BMW has been launched in the UK. This new model features quite a lot of innovations which has never before been seen on a BMW of this type. The new brand which is the BMW Z4 is the first which is fitted with a two-piece, electro-hydraulically operated Retractable Hard-Top roof. This roof is such that it can be elevated or let down in 20 seconds.
The new BMW Z4 is also the first of its kind which extends Adaptive M Sport Suspension. This technique is fitted with a ride height 10mm lesser than the normal car for a more active drive.

A standard six-speed manual gearbox transmits the power to the road in all 3 BMW Z4s. The selection of a seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission, with the gear shift paddles situated on the steering wheel depends on the requirements of the buyer.

BMW UK has assured that it will take part in the scrappage scheme of the government. The announcement of this scheme was declared immediately after the Budget proclamation. The government will contribute to the tune of £1,000 and this contribution will be matched by BMW to reach a total saving of £2,000 off a new BMW or MINI.

A consumer now can get a brand new BMW 116i Sport for just £242 a month, with zero deposit. The actual discount available on a BMW 116i Sport now amounts to a total of £3,260. This is because of the government scrappage payment, the corresponding BMW offer and a further dealer contribution. This BMW 116i model has class which tops the economy and low CO2 expelling. A zero to 62mph time of 9.8 seconds and turnout of 122hp ensues in a car that is also enjoyable to drive.

It is not sure that a ‘double diffuser’ solution will be equipped to be contributed to the 2009 BMW-Sauber package for this weekend’s Spanish grand prix. Mario Theissen the team boss stated that “Whether it will be there or not is not yet definite.”
Sport Bild says that architects had devised a double diffuser for the single seater, but simulations from the computer brought up doubts about its effectivity.

The drivers’ teams which includes Robert Kubica, and who has not yet scored a single point, are not hopeful.
The Pole informed the publication that: “We will make a step forward in Barcelona, but whether it will be big enough is improbable.”
Teammate Nick Heidfeld added: “We did the first four races without big changes on the car, while the other teams constantly had new parts and went further ahead than us.”

BMW is facing very hard days and it is not able to make much money on the 1-series. This particular brand is capped in its higher price range due to competition with the 3-series. It has the same features and technology and is almost the same size as its larger brother. To solve this problem BMW is planning to reduce its production costs but at the same time having extra features in its next 1-series which is due in 2011 or 2012.

Engines and fuel efficiency will also play a vital role in the next-gen 1-series. The Europeans will get an all-new 3 cylinder turbo petrol unit which is rated at an approximated 110hp (82kW). The new engine plus its new technology which can be applied to the 116d’s diesel engine, will allow more models for lesser CO2 emissions under 100g/km.

BMW’s main single shareholder is the legendary Quandt family. The family holds 46% share of the Bavarian company. It could be debated that this bulk stake makes BMW a family business rather than a public company.

Recently BMW AG and traditional arch rival Daimler AG who are owners of Mercedes-Benz are going to buy stakes worth 7% in each other’s businesses. This was reported in Germany’s Der Spiegel newspaper. Now it is reported that the Quandt family will oppose such a deal.
Presently the two companies have agreed to buy in bulk parts that are common for both of them. BMW has the same kind of agreement with PSA Group where the Germans develop 1.6-litre petrol engines and the French use their monolithic buying power to bring down the total production costs for both entities. The deal is for 1 million engines where PSA takes 800,000 and BMW keeps 200,000.

Chris Bangle BMW-Designer
According to BMWTalk, Chris Bangle is leaving BMW. Like BMWTalk is saying, he was the most controversial in the recent history.
Bangle was the first American that joined the BMW design department in 1992. He worked together with his design team for the current 3- and 5-series.
A qoute of BMWTalk what we do like is:
Bangle is known for the ill-mannered nickname “Bangle Butt”, a term that has become tantamount with the distinct rear ends of the BMW models designed and produced during Bangle’s reign.
We hope his leaving won’t effect the upcoming models of BMW to much. We of BMW-News do like the famous rear ends of the current BMW’s.
